Westfalia Landtechnik GmbH, Oelde, Germany, was included in Germany’s TOP 100 companies in late March 2001. Among over 400 competitors, the dairy farm systems manufacturer took 16th rank in a list of Germany’s 100 most innovative companies.

The TOP 100 companies in Germany were selected by a jury headed by Professor Dr. Hans-Jürgen Warnecke, President of the country’s reputed Fraunhofer Society, and figure in a representative book. They excel by innovative achievements and strategies and stimulate progress in their industries. Criteria by which the jury reviews competitors comprise product  development and improvement as well as novel production methods and services. The introduction of new organizational structures or processes as well as idea and personnel development management are also among the criteria.

Through organic growth and new core competencies in the fields of cooling and large milking parlor technology, the Westfalia Landtechnik Group has been able to double its sales to some 332 million €over the last five years. The new Development Center under construction in Herdecke, Germany, is intended to shorten product development cycles to give Westfalia Landtechnik an important competitive edge. In the equipment cleaning, animal hygiene, spare parts and accessory sector, the ProMilkService strategy which is currently being introduced is setting new standards of service for the dairy farmer.

Westfalia Landtechnik employs some 1,700 persons in over 50 countries around the globe. The Group is an independent division of GEA AG, Bochum, Germany, a sub-group of mg technologies ag in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
